Steel Rain is an approximately 1/3 rd., semi-scale of the Lockheed Martin MGM-140, ATACMS, which is a ground to ground missile launched by the U.S. Army HIMARS or MLRS vehicles.
The version you see here was my first (and unsuccessful) Level 2 attempt in October of 2022. It was a great flight, but my chute didn't hold within the Jolly Logic Chute Release and therefore opened at apogee. Since the deployment system did not work as intended it was not recognized as a successful Level 2 attempt.

Multiple variants of the MGM-140 exists and there are numerous paint schemes for each. My intent was to make it look like the missile in photo below.
By the way... Yeah, I know... it would look better with a boat tail. I wrestled with that one for weeks, but in the end it wasn't worth the time or expense for me to do a proper boat tail. To order a 7.51" nose cone and chop it for the boat tail would have added $100 to the cost.
